Bollywood is an industry of glitz and glamour, where the actresses adds exquisiteness and allure to the otherwise male dominated industry.Although, the trend seems to be changing with a lot of successful women-oriented films reigning the box office. But it also the same industry, where female actors often lose their grip after marriages.
There has been a big share of leading ladies in Bollywood, who quit industry at the peak of their carrier after getting married. One such example is Asin Thottumkal. Asin who rocked south with her amazing performance, entered Hindi film industry in 2005 opposite Aamir Khan. Asin who tied knot with Micromax India’s CEO, Rahul Sharma in 2016, bid adieu to films post marriage.
Twinkle Khanna, who acted with all the top most actors in Bollywood be it, Shah Rukh, Salman, Govinda, Saif and how can we forget Akshay Kumar. It was during the filming of one of her films with Akshay that bought them closer. The actor got married in 1973 and pursued a different carrier and became an interior designer.
Sonali Bendre was at the top of her carrier when she married Goldie Bahl and left industry with a smiling face. Years after her marriage, Sonali did few short roles in films and also tried her hand in television industry as well as a judge at a reality TV show.
But there are few actors too, who though continued working even after getting married, but their success ratio dropped down considerably.VidyaBalan is a perfect example for this. The actor who received many awards for her performance, married Siddharth Roy Kapur. Post marriage too, the actor continued to do films like Bobby Jasoos, Ghanchakkar, HamariAdhoori Kahaani but didn’t received much success.
Aishwarya Rai did few films after getting married to junior Abhishek. But, took a break after giving birth to her daughter Aradhya. But she was soon back with films like Jazbaa and Sarabjit.
Kareena Kapoor has been by far quite lucky in her carrier path. After getting married to Saif Ali Khan, Bebo continued doing films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Udta Punjab which got critical acclamation.
Kajol too stopped working after getting married to Ajay Devgan. But, it was the script of Fanaa in 2006 opposite Aamir Khan. Kajol now does only few selected movies like My Name Is Khan, We Are A Family, and the most recent one Dilwaale. But the actor is quite active on brand endorsement circuit.
Madhuri Dixit took a hiatus after her marriage to Dr Shriram Nene. But recently came back to limelight with films like DedhIshqiya and Gulaabi Gang. Currently, she is judging few dance reality shows.
