After successfully producing films like the blockbuster Tanu Weds Manu franchise & Raanjhanaa, one of the country’s most sought after filmmakers Aanand L Rai has now joined hands with one of the most promising new-age producers, Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films’ to present their internationally acclaimed film, NEWTON.

Rai’s home banner Colour Yellow Productions will present the award-winning black comedy directed by Amit V Masurkar and starring Rajkumar Rao in the titular role.

With his constant attempt to bridge the gap between thought provoking and commercial cinema, this year, Aanand L Rai is placing his bets on Newton after staunchly backing a film like Nil Battey Sannata, one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2016.

Says Aanand L Rai, “As a producer it has been my constant endeavour to reach more and more people with meaningful, thought provoking yet entertaining films that will strike a chord with new age audiences. Newton as a film not only moved me but also had me laughing throughout and I hope audiences enjoy it just as much”.

Thrilled with this collaboration, Manish Mundra, the founder of Drishyam Films and the producer of award-winning films like Masaan and Newton, says, “We are very happy to join hands with Anand L Rai and have him on board as the presenter of Newton. With his invaluable support, the film will surely reach a much larger Indian audience. We are also looking forward to working together on many more content-driven films which will help us grow more and make an impact nationwide.”

Starring Rajkummar Rao as Newton, the film has a stellar cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Raghubir Yadav and Anjali Patil. Newton had its world premiere at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival where it received a standing ovation and won the CICAE Award for Best Film in the Forum Section.

Colour Yellow Productions & Drishyam Films’ Newton is scheduled to release across the country on 18th August 2017.
