Simran, Hansal Mehta, happy

Despite negative publicity and controversies, Kangana Ranaut starrer Simran failed to shine at the box-office, but filmmaker Hansal Mehta has a different story to tell, says he is satisfied with the numbers.

Hansal Mehta was spotted at the special screening of Newton in the town and during his media interaction, filmmaker expressed that he is happy with the film and money it made.

“I am happy and satisfied with the number’s Simran did at the box-office. It is a different kind of movie and the response is also quite good and very encouraging. I am quite happy with the film” said Hansal Mehta.

Simran was engulfed in one controversy after another. First, the movie writing credits controversy made headlines and later Kangana went on the rampage taking jabs at Hrithik Roshan for their relationship and public breakup.
Hansal Mehta and Rajkummar Rao have collaborated for movies like Aligarh, Citylights, Shahid and forthcoming Omerta, the filmmaker was nothing but praise for the actor for his upcoming movie Newton.

“The movie has been appreciated a lot. This movie is incredible and the India that we live in, it is very relevant for that” added Hansal.

Hansal also corrected the misconception that Newton has anything to do with filmmaker; apart from the fact that he considers Rajkummar Rao his brother.

“This is not my film. A lot of people have this misconception that Newton is directed by me, this movie is directed by Amit Masurkar and Rajkummar Rao is acting in it. And as a friend and brother to Rajkummar, I am here to support the film” added Hansal.
