The Hungry, World Premiere, Toronto International Film Festival

The Hungry, a co-production between Cinestaan Film Company (CFC) and Film London received a great response as it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film has brought together talent from Indiaand the UK, including Naseeruddin Shah, Tisca Chopra, Neeraj Kabi, Arjun Gupta, Antonio Aakeel, Sayani and Suraj Sharma.

The cast and crew along with the Cinestaan Film Company and Film London teams were at TIFF- Tisca Chopra, Sayani , Arjun Gupta, Antonio Aakeel, Bornila Chatterjee, Kurban Kassam, Tanaji Dasgupta and from Cinestaan Film Company Rohit Khattar, Tessa Inkelaar and Deborah Sathe and Adrian Wootton from Film London. ‘The Hungry’ follows Tulsi Joshi, a widow and bride to be who comes to her own wedding seeking revenge for the brutal murder of her first born son. Based on Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, the film is about the violence that exists between power and love – a macabre fairytale set in the elite circles of north India.

The film is written and directed by Bornila Chatterjee (Let’s Be Out, The Sun is Shining) and co-written and produced by Tanaji Dasgupta (Chittagong, Sold) and Kurban Kassam (The Party, 20,000 Days on Earth, Ginger and Rosa).

The Hungry will have its European premiere at London Film Festival followed by its Asian premiere at MAMI.
