The much-awaited ‘Lalkaar’ Concert is all set to rock the country on 21st November as announced by Farhan Akhtar in a Press Conference held on Wednesday. This concert will take place as a part of ‘Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya- Enough Is Enough!’. This campaign is led by Population Foundation Of India (PFI) and Farhan Akhtar’s initiative MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) along with well-known director Feroz Abbas Khan.

Led by Farhan Akhtar, the musical night will witness eminent celebrities from the music industry performing. Among those who will perform along with Farhan are Salim Sulaiman, Prakriti, Sukriti, Papon, Harshdeep Kaur and several others. Apart from the singers, there will be several real-life heroes and champions of fighting gender violence who will be present at the concert.

Farhan Akhtar asserts, “We are using our creativity and our arts at the Lalkaar concert to galvanize the movement. To inspire the youth and to be a catalyst for change – that is what MARD stands for. I am grateful to all of the artists that are coming together to say Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya & to End Violence Against Women and Girls”.

Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director, Population Foundation of India (PFI) adds, “For a very long time, we have been talking about violence against women and making policies and laws to prevent it. Though this was essential, now its high time to execute those as well.”

Feroz Abbas Khan says, “We have made films based on the lives of Sania Mirza and Vidya Balan which kick-started the campaign. Post which we engaged with more than 600 colleges where we had our workshops on violence against women and girls. We asked the students to give us 2-minute films based on violence faced by women and girls. To which, we received 1700 entries. Our idea is to sensitize the issue on a continuous basis.”

Launched by Population Foundation of India, Farhan Akhtar’s MARD and Feroz Abbas Khan on 30th May, Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya- Enough is Enough is a campaign that aims at generating debate and promote positive change in cultural and social norms around the value of women in India. National celebrities joined this campaign to relay messages that motivate young girls to stand up against violence, and show boys that masculinity is not connected with violence. Apart from the films, there were several activities including college panel discussions across 40 campuses and a filmmaking contest in which 600 colleges took part with close to 2000 entries.
