Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan attended success bash of Shubh Mangal Savdhan on Tuesday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Raghavan stated that audience will see new avatar of Ayushmann Khurrana in his next film.

Talking about his next film ‘Shoot The Piano Player’, Raghavan said, “We already shot half the film. It will be different from Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Savdhan so it will be different movie for Ayushmann. Let’s see how much I manage to do something real but in thriller zone”

Talking about working with Ayushmann, Raghavan said, “In this film, he is very good. He is different from his earlier movies. I love all these kind of movies but I am looking forward to see how people will react to the kind of story which I am telling but I can definitely say that audience will see Ayushmann in new avatar in this film”

Talking about plot and release date of the movie, Raghavan said, “It’s more about good guys and bad people and so on. It’s an Indian film set in India so it’s somewhat our film and it will be thriller. We have almost completed 45% shoot of the film and one more schedule is left and it will start after diwali”

“I don’t know about its release because nowadays competition is very tough so Viacom will decide release date of the film”

Riding high on back to back success of Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Savdhan, Ayushmann talked about working Sriram Raghavan for the first time, he said, “The film has to be different because it’s a Sriram Raghavan film. It will be thriller which I am trying for the first time. It was something which I never expected that script like this will come my way.”

“It will be different film for him as well because this film has music angle so I am really excited about it and we will start our next schedule after diwali”

Two years ago, it was announced that Sriram would direct the adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s ‘The Accidental Apprentice for Matchbox Pictures’. It is, however, not certain that Shoot The Piano Player is the same film. Swarup is the writer of the novel Q & A, on which Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire was based.

Shoot The Piano Player is touted to be a thriller, which is Sriram’s forte. He last helmed Varun Dhawan-starrer revenge drama Badlapur (2015). This is the first time that Sriram is collaborating with Ayushmann and Tabu. It’s also a first for the two actors to share the screen space.

The movie is being co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Matchbox Pictures.
