Versatile actor Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for his fourth release of 2017 with upcoming film Newton. In a media interview, Rajkummar stated that he always try to push himself and offer something new to his audience.

Recently, at Jagran Cinema Summit, Varun Dhawan praised Rajkummar Rao for one being one of the successful and consistent actor of 2017, reacting to Varun’s comments, Rao said, “I want to thank thank Varun for saying that. I think he is really kind. I like him a lot myself. This year my films like Trapped, Behen Hogi Teri, Bareilly Ki Barfi and now Newton, all these films are really different kind of films with each other so that’s the reason people enjoyed watching it. If all characters in the film would have same then it would have been boring for me as an actor as well so I always try to push myself and offer something to new to my audience and it also creates growth in me as actor”

“It’s very rare that an actor gets an opportunity to be part of different films and play different characters and exactly that happened with me this year which I feel is just an co-incidence but I am very happy for it and I hope each year I get opportunity to be part of good films”

Talking about his choice of scripts, Rao said, “I read all my scripts. I feel very lucky when filmmakers approach me with their scripts and they want me to be part of their films and if any script which excites me as an actor or offers me something different then I say yes to it”

Talking about his film Newton and his character in the film, Rao said, “Newton tries to change things just by being honest. He thinks things should happen just the way it supposed to be. My character name in the film is Nutan Kumar AKA Newton, who is an idealist and he believes in honesty, sincerity in whatever he does.”

“He has given the responsibility to conduct elections in remote area in forests of Chhattisgarh which very sensitive area and has presence of Naxalites but he is the only one who tries to perform his duties and other people around him who is also part of an system isn’t and they constantly ask him why is being so honest”

Newton deals with voting system in India, talking about that Rao said, “When we go to buy a car, we think a lot while making final choice so I feel voting is far more important which is directly related with nation’s interest. It decides future of our country for next 5 years so we all should be aware about that. Voting is the most powerful and important tool that we have and voting day is the most powerful day in common man’s life so we should use that correctly and it’s important to choose right leader”

Talking about his shooting experience for the film, Rao said, “The shooting experience for this film was really nice and we shot this film in real locations in the forests of Chhattisgarh. It is truly a very sensitive area which has presence of security forces but we had lot of fun there and we met lot of local people and they also acted in our film, that region is untouched beauty of our country so we overall we had really great shoot.”

Newton revolves around Newton Kumar, a rookie government clerk is sent on election duty to a naxal-controlled town in the conflict-ridden jungles of Chhattisgarh, India. Faced with the apathy of security forces and the looming fear of guerrilla attacks by communist rebels, he tries his best to conduct free and fair voting despite the odds stacked against him.
